Punan Long Adiu Customary Community Territory
The Punan Adiu community have a strong commitment to forest protection and the desire to preserve forest resources for the use of future generations. By helping the Punan Adiu community to secure tenure and rights; prevent activities of timber, mining and oil palm companies; and implement sustainable forest management activities; the conservation project has the potential to protect habitat for a diverse range of plant and animal species, many of which are threatened or endangered; reduce up to 55,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (the project is also validated by the Plan Vivo standard for community-based carbon offset projects); and improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of the Punan Adiu community.
